Therese Brown was first elected 2nd District Allen County Commissioner in November 2010. She was re-elected to a fourth term in 2022.
Prior to becoming Commissioner, Ms. Brown served two terms each as the Allen County Clerk of the Circuit and Superior Courts and as the Allen County Auditor, serving on both legislative committees for each office, working to improve, streamline, and enhance the duties of the offices for Allen County constituents. Before being elected County Auditor in 1994, Ms. Brown got her start in county government working in the Treasurer's Office.
Ms. Brown is a past president of the Association of Indiana Counties, a statewide organization helping to educate legislators about the issues and challenges facing county government, and former district president of the Indiana County Commissioners Association. In 2011, Ms. Brown was appointed by former Indiana Senate President Pro Tempore David Long to the State of Indiana Commission of Courts and in 2012 was appointed to, and continues to serve on, the State of Indiana Commission on Intergovernmental Relations. Brown was instrumental in the creation of the Northeast Indiana Commissioner/Mayors Caucus and served as its first co-chair.
Ms. Brown currently serves on the boards of the Indiana Association of County Commissioners Northern District, Allen County Mental Health, Allen County Community Corrections Advisory Board, the Allen County Childcare Facilities Board, the Convention and Visitor's Bureau, the Northeast Indiana Regional Coordinating Council, Allen County Drainage Board, the Northeast Indiana Regional Partnership, the Regional Opportunities Council, and Recovery Health Systems.
She has previously served on the Allen County Plan Commission, Greater Fort Wayne Inc. Board, the Downtown Improvement District, Board member of the Northeast Indiana Regional Partnership, the Allen County Community Corrections Board, the Maumee River Basin Commission, the Fort Wayne/Allen County Economic Development Alliance Board, the Northeast Indiana Innovation Center, and the Combined Communications Partnership overseeing 911 dispatch services in Fort Wayne and Allen County.
Ms. Brown graduated from Bishop Dwenger High School, and holds both an Associate’s degree in Business Administration and Bachelor’s degree in Business Management from Indiana Wesleyan University.
Ms. Brown is married to Dan Roy has two adult sons, two grandsons, and is an active member of Saint Vincent DePaul Catholic Church. She resides in Huntertown in northern Allen County.
